Smith, retired Assistant Provost and Director of the Office ofLearning Support, for many years of service in the promotion of human diversity and academicexcellence at SUNY Oswego. The Smith Scholarship was created in 1996 by a campus-wideinitiative formed to promote diversity on the SUNY Oswego campus. This award is dedicated toproviding financial support to bright and talented students and encouraging them to focus onboth academics and participation in the college experience. Financial need may be taken intoconsideration; however, scholarships will be based on the academic performance of individualswho fulfill the following requirements. Qualified applicants will:a. Be nominated for the award by a faculty or staff memberb. Have earned a minimum of 27 credits at Oswego (sophomore or junior standing). Transferstudents must have completed two semesters of study at Oswegoc. Have a cumulative SUNY Oswego GPA of 3.00d. Demonstrate good character and integritye. Have a documented history of service to SUNY Oswego or the Oswego communityf.
