  Haermonics is a heart surgery start-up. Dave Koolbergen, congenital heart surgeon at Amsterdam UMC, has developed and researched a flushing procedure (Continuous Postoperative Pericardial Flush, CPPF) to reduce reoperations due to too much blood loss.In the FLUID study, a flushing method will be used with a newly created, automated Investigational Medical Device (ID). The ID controls the inflow and warming of the flushing fluid and monitors pericardial pressure and blood loss.As a student assistant researcher, I am responsible for preparing the ID in the operating room, linking it to the patient in the operating room, supervising the entire process in the ICU and recording the research data.I have worked at the following locations:Academic Medical Center in AmsterdamLeiden University Medical Center in LeidenSt. Antonius hospital in NieuwegeinCatharina Hospital in Eindhoven Show less
