  Development and management of the Farmers Training Centre which provides education and practical skills for the design of productive food and agroforestry systems which work in harmony with nature and which are economically viable. Rooted in the belief that farmers can be a powerful tool for environmental regeneration, the Centre demonstrates ways in which ecological farming practices can reverse environmental degradation whilst also improving yields and livelihoods.My work experience with the Mount Elgon Trust equipped me with practical farming and building skills combined with a deep understanding of why and how regenerative agriculture is so important for people and the environment. I developed the physical structures at the site (such as compost and Vermicompost), planting and harvesting schedules, teaching aids and educational workshops for community members. I oversaw the running of a greenhouse (20x8m) from which vegetables are sold to make an income for the project, as well as a small kitchen garden and a tree nursery. The facility was developed with a small team and very limited resources, using mainly recycled materials and requiring a high level of creativity. It is now being run successfully by a member of the local community who I worked alongside with during my time there. Show less

  Helped to start Farm to Feed as an organization which feeds vulnerable communities who lost their income with food sourced from farmers struggling due to impacts of COVID-19 crisis. Advise NGO on sustainable farming practices, food security and urban farming techniques. Initiated selling of 'Pyramid Gardens' (vertical gardens) to raise funds for urban farming in informal settlements.
