General Manager - Chem.)- Performed a detailed study and reviewed various processing units like Crude Stabilization Unit (CSU), Gas Sweetening Unit (GSU), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Unit, Ethane-Propane Recovery Unit (EPRU), Condensate Fractionation Unit (CFU) and various Additional Processing Units like Flare Gas Recovery Unit (FGRU) and Slug Catcher Utilities.- Designed a fractionation column for the LPG Unit with an aim to recover all the butane in the distillates which was, otherwise, lost in the bottoms. The designed column was then simulated in ASPEN HYSYS v3.0 to check its validity. The design was strictly in coherence with the economic feasibility of the plant.- Simulated the entire LPG and EPR Unit using ASPEN HYSYS v3.0 to corroborate simulated observations with field readings as a part of process check routines.   Involved in a multi-million-dollar multidisciplinary university research collaboration (team of ~25) under the MURI grant by the AFOSR on understanding the biology, chemistry, and nanoscience of natural and synthetic melanin. Led, co-led, and engaged the cross-functional teams of the MURI effort to solve several outstanding problems encompassing melanin’s unique optical property.a) Built a framework to determine the broadband optical properties of synthetic eumelanin using spectroscopic ellipsometry and newly discovered its enhanced protective ability upon UV irradiation.Further, extended the framework to elucidate broadband optical properties of various other natural and synthetic melanin chemistries, essential for melanin's property expression.b) Collaborated with National Labs (NIST CNR, Argonne-APS) to extract color-defining structural characteristics from melanin-based photonic colloidal assemblies using scattering techniques; a critical component for engineering synthetic optical materials to produce structural colorsc) Conceptualized and designed/executed strategies to predict structure and color generation in colloidal nanoparticle assemblies using computational tools to enable development of structure-color relationships and to tune spectral response in different regions of electromagnetic spectrum (UV, Vis, or IR).d) Co-started a new line of investigation on photothermal absorption behavior of melanin in the UV-Vis-NIR region (inspired by the thermoregulatory properties of melanin in sunbirds) using synthetic melanin nanocomposites and exploited its unique property to create photothermally responsive materials.e) Designed capabilities to print a wide gamut of melanin-based structural colors (inspired by bird feathers) via drop deposition technique on various plasma-treated substrates.f) Developed a methodology to produce mechanically stable structural colors on flexible substrates using melanin precursors via electrophoretic deposition.
