  Responsibilities included product development from concept to production utilizing CAE tools. FSTO products included complex electro-optic assemblies with components ranging from machined and formed aluminum to injection molded parts. Normal elements of the design process included hands on solid modeling using Unigraphics (UG), preparation and transfer of databases for SLA (stereo lithography) and machining, first pass FEA analysis, and supervision of the preparation of detailed documentation packages to military standards. Provided application support for over 20 CAD users in various areas of the development cycle, and conducted introductory training for new users. Acted as engineering representative for corporate purchase agreements and maintenance contracts. Planned and implemented user training for CAD transitions. Also acted as FSTO focal point for Cadkey, Mentor ANSYS and Mathematica. Responsibility for over 20 HP 9000 series workstations on which CAD applications resided. Responsibilities required proficiency in dealing with various outside customers and vendors, and all disciplines within Honeywell. These services included opto-mechanical packaging, electronics packaging, and ergonomic design studies. Services were project oriented and customer driven, but typically included Computer Aided Design (CAD), interface to Rapid Prototype (RP) solutions, and management of partners for part fabrication. Generation of production ready drawings, prototype fabrication and assembly, and transition to manufacturing were typical project responsibilities. Projects included a table mounted player tracking system for Black Jack, an optical fingerprinting system, and various head mounted displays for use in medical, industrial, and military applications.
