  Police Officer/Computer Forensic Examiner - Cyber Investigations & Incident Response

  My current role within Police Scotland sits within the Cyber Investigations team. I conduct proactive and reactive cyber investigations and operations to identify evidential opportunities, detect crime and reduce the risk posed to the people and communities of Scotland – main focus on Ransomware attacks, Business Email Compromise, Distributed Denial of Service and Network Intrusion.I ensure the integrity and continuity of evidence is maintained throughout the collection, preservation and examination of digital evidence which is often later produced in a technical forensic report and presented in the court.I contribute to the design of departmental strategies for digital forensic and incident response situations with a focus on responding to SMEs and provide specialist advice and guidance in relation to Information Security requirements, both internally and externally – a strong focus on Cyber Security prevention working with partners such as the Scottish Business Resilience Centre and Intelligence partners.I also perform forensic examination of Digital Media and present my findings as an expert witness at court. I have experience in applications such as EnCase, FTK, IEF, Cellebrite and XRY. My computing knowledge also extends to scripting, coding and I have a good working knowledge of Windows/Mac and Linux Operating Systems. Prior to this role I was a key member of the Glasgow 2014 Planning Team for the XX Commonwealth Games, the largest event capable of being held in Scotland. I had the responsibility of planning the Police Operation for the SECC and Scotstoun where 10 sports were hosted. I worked directly with the Organising Committee, as well as the military, and my key role was the delivery of a safe and secure games at my venues. Show less
