    • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

      Aug 2020 - Aug 2021
      Project Intern

As a Research Intern at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), I engaged in cutting-edge research focused on sandwich composite structures, specifically Armour beam and SMA core weave patterns. My responsibilities included:Creating complex models of these composite structures using Abaqus and Hypermesh software.Fabricating and conducting rigorous 4-point bending tests on the armor beams to evaluate their structural performance.Contributing to the development of innovative solutions that addressed pre-existing issues in armor beams, leading to improved performance and reduced weight.Proposing a novel weaving pattern for SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) wires, which not only reduced material requirements but also decreased overall weight while maintaining energy-absorbing capabilities. This breakthrough opened up new possibilities for SMA applications.Confirming the pseudo-elastic property of SMA wires through comprehensive analysis, sparking further exploration into various SMA properties and potential applications.
