      Designed and developed a patent-pending engineering device for plant phenotyping. Facilitated production of a small initial run of devices. Co-reviewed patent application for novel engineering device in collaboration with patent attorney and NYU Office of Industrial Liaison. Advised and supported undergraduate student researchers working on electronics (Raspberry Pi and Arduino) and software projects. Designed and built novel corn stalk testing device for improved stalk strength prediction. Co-authored journal articles. Liaised with suppliers to select and procure components for device in development. Presented research at technical conferences. Set up and carried out finite elements simulations in support of grant applications.Thesis advisor: Dr. Douglas D. Cook Assisted the principal investigator with various research tasks including conducting experiments and measurements of corn stalk geometry and strength, analysing data to discover connections between corn stalk geometry and strength, and writing research papers.
