Through donations we were able to plant approximately 20 red and green bell pepper plants and 15 heirloom tomato plants of different varieties. Other vegetables included cabbage and heirloom squash. Our most symbolic plant were four fig trees that were planted in front of the garden. The vegetable garden was cultivated by Pastor Cynthia Burse, church and local community members, and NCBW members. Our garden supported Bethany's Saturday Lunch Ministry that serviced about 500 members per month. Most patrons of the lunch ministry were either homeless or families with school aged children. It was a true pleasure to participate in this labor of love. Vis mindre
