      Property Staff Intern

      Internship working on the property staff of a Mass Audubon sanctuary in Belmont, Massachusetts. Work was done to remove invasive species using goats and hand tools. Internship also included a leadership role as part of the group Pulling Partners, a multi-generational group working to maintain the gardens of the sanctuary. Additional leadership roles included herding goat-tenders and corporate volunteer groups.

      Internship teaching marine science to students aged 9-18 at a summer program located in Seal Harbor, Maine. Supported in educating students about the ecosystems of Acadia National Park as well as teaching about oceanography and the geography of the landscape. Lectures were presented on microplastics and assistance was given for shark and squid dissections. Biweekly water quality tests were done in Somes sound, a glacial fjord on Mt. Desert Island.

      A study abroad experience sailing from Cape Town, South Africa to St. Johns, Antigua. While aboard, students took courses in marine biology, oceanography, seamanship, and leadership. As part of three watch teams, students led the sailing and maintenance of a 112ft sailing yacht. Responsibilities included leading the watch team and leading sail maneuvers.
