  Engineering Placement

  I spent a year placement with Pall Europe at Portsmouth. During this time I helped them to upgrade their cyclic steam testing equipment with modern PLC with touch screen input which allows full automation of new filter testing. Which allows the operator to input the number of steam cycles required for a set of filters, the temperature to be tested at and the length of time for testing and back washings. All the information such as temperature, pressures, cycle time, number of cycles ect. can be view in real time from the control computer as well as from a remote computer. I also redesigned all the pipework and a new skid on which the whole assembly was mounted on. I wrote the program using Omron software and uploaded onto Omron CJ1M PLC and also programmed DasyLab software as the user interface. I also wrote a complete manual for the whole system for the operator and for trouble shooting. Show less
