  Project Manager

  I had a 13 year career with Lend Lease which was extremely rewarding and I remain proud of what was achieved over that time. It culminated with the ultimate challenge - developing the company HQ! I was the Project Manager responsible for the development and construction of the new corporate headquarters at Regent's Place in London (8000m2 high quality cat B fit out). This scheme involved extensive structural modifications within an occupied building, an extremely demanding internal client team and a very fast paced programme. The team pulled together a high quality product in double quick time with an exceptional safety record. Between 2007 and 2009 I developed solid experience in bid management and work winning through two years as bid leader creating winning submissions for major construction projects across the region. This included devising win themes, creating commercial and programme strategy, navigating sign off and diligence gateways and producing very high standards of documentation. During this time I also provided some buildability consultancy and transformation work to a range of clients.Prior to that I was the Project Engineer at Stonecutters (107 resi-apartments, 20 storeys high), Jackson Landing in Sydney. On this project we were able to achieve improved structural cycle times through precast innovations, designed our own facade system that was manufactured in Malaysia and delivered the scheme well ahead of programme. The team spirit and collaborative working on this project stands out as a best practice example.Between 2003 and 2007 I worked on several high profile retail schemes including Manchester Arndale, Harvey Nichols and Warrington Golden Square - all of which had their own unique programme, technical and cultural challenges. Prior to that I also worked on Legoland Deutschland as an Assistant Package Manager, Halifax Hospital PFI as a Construction Manager and Marks & Spencer Manchester as an Assistant Construction Manager.   Senior Project Manager as part of the integrated 'Team Drax' delivering a new biomass distribution system at the UK's largest coal fired power station. This project involved the construction of bespoke 70m high steel day silos, associated pneumatic pipework systems and supplies. We also converted the existing boilers to accept biomass within the operational boiler house. Logistics was a particular challenge, with 1350t crawler crane movements controlled within the tight site constraints of a live power station. Show less Project Manager responsible for completing the construction of the new Liverpool Central Library, involving the refurbishment of a 19th Century grade 2 listed library and new build extension.Liverpool Library was an extremely complex build, where sensitive interfaces between the new build structure and 19th Century building had to be carefully planned and executed. Despite significant technical, supply chain and resource challenges the library successfully opened to the public on time, to the delight of the client, all involved and the general public. He delivered consultancy commissions and professional services across a wide range of nationally significant infrastructure programmes for clients such as BAE, Sellafield, AstraZeneca, UKAEA (Fusion) and NDA. He also formed part of the businesses Technical Leadership community driving innovation and best practice across Programme Management and Project Controls disciplines.   Our Hyperscale business unit was doing well. We had a strong pipeline and were delivering some amazing projects. Our supply chain were being looked after and our clients were happy. We were forecasting a profitable year. Then due to circumstances beyond our control the whole ISG business went in to administration on the 20th September 2024.I was the Operations Director for the Hyperscale (Major Projects) team delivering data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, semi-conductor facilities and our work on the New Prisons Programme. We were developing some of the best capability in the industry, a growth strategy built on great client relationships and delivering innovative advisory and construction services across the whole project lifecycle. It could have been amazing, we were on the right path. It was a great experience working with ISG and the people that worked there did not deserve the outcome. Show less
