  As an intern, I heavily used SIG to create base data for maps of multiple cities in Costa Rica in order to create the ambient fragile index data. With this data, local governments can have the information required to set the politics on human development and land investment requirements for the next 5 years.

  I worked using SIG and GPS systems for mapping, car counting, and pavement design aimed to help the local governments in Costa Rica build transportation models and better practices on the use of funds.Also with the unit manager, we developed a new model in SIG to identify the traffic and set the weight stations in Costa Rica to prevent road damage.In the last months before going into the private sector, I developed a new quantitative model to identify roads prone to landslides and water damage, focused on secondary roads, to give the local governments an easy-to-use tool to prevent problems and optimize the allocation of funds in road management departments. Also, was involved in the prefab process and testing of new materials and old concrete poles.I was part to the team checking quality control and design of concrete prestressed poles used in the lines of distribution.
