Coordinated with outside agencies in order to maintain a safe level of personnel to conduct the unit’s mission. Maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuels systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment and operation. Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blue prints or manufacturer’s manuals. Performs maintenance documentation in support of assigned tasks and operations. Mentors lower level mechanics on assigned maintenance tasks, adherence to company and customer directives and requirements, and ensuring safe operating conditions and practices at all times. Received a personal award for designing, devolving an innovative change to the structure of the refueling pod and fuel system which increased fuel pressure and volume during rapid ground refueling. This innovative design is still used on KC130 J Model aircraft today as a standard option from Lockheed Martin. Show less
