      Field Survey Crew Chief

I have worked under professional direction of Professional Land Surveyors to perform a wide variety of survey field work including topographic and boundary surveying, GNSS and GIS surveying, monitoring, and construction layout staking. I started at AKS Engineering and Forestry with no prior experience, knowledge, or training in land surveying. As a crew chief, I am responsible for being lined out and successfully completing survey tasks in an efficient manner to meet budgeted timelines, and leading crew technicians in the field - teaching field technicians of all experience levels. I have also spent time training and mentoring newly appointed crew chiefs to help them with AKS surveying standards, time/job management, and passing on skills from my own experience. Originally hired as a survey tech (rodman), I performed labor-intensive work including packing heavy survey equipment across all terrain types and conditions. I staked construction stakes accurately and efficiently, trained to seek out land corners/monuments using prior survey records and studying lines of occupation, and brush-cut sight lines through dense vegetation using a variety of hand tools (machete, hand saws, chain saws, gas-powered trimmers). I am trained in daily operation and maintenance of many Trimble surveying products including Robotic total stations (VX & S series), R10 GPS Receivers, DINI electronic levels, X7 scanners, SX10/12 scanning total stations, TSC3, TSC5 and TSC7 Data Collectors with Trimble Access, among other products and programs. I have performed quality work at a high level of production and accuracy with professional attention to detail and safety at all times while working 50 hours/week year-round, up to 60+hours/week during peak work load. Work includes public (Prevailing Wage) and private clients from across the states of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Job sites range from typical subdivisions, right of way / roadways, industrial sites, and forested settings. Show less
