This general aim was addressed through the accomplishment of three randomized clinical trials. In particular, the evaluation of the dietary treatments efficacy over gut microbiota composition and butyrate production of i) a fermented milk product by probiotic Lactobacillus paracasei CBA L74 in healthy schoolchildren, ii) an extensively hydrolyzed casein formula enriched with the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in children with diagnosticated non-IgE cow’s milk allergy and iii) the overall effects exerted by a nutritional intervention based on the health-promoting Mediterranean dietary pattern over gut and salivary microbiota composition in overweight/obese subjects.
