      Project: Engine Development for Renault-Nissan powertrainsA 4-month training stage in Paris, France Headquarters (October 2013 - January 2014)Design from scratch, modification and correction of 3D models in Catia V5 and Catia V6 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Generative Shape Design, Sheet Metal Design);Starting from scratch, and correction of 2D drawings (Drafting);The 3D/2D models consist of cooling, lubrication and fuel system components, involving their implementation in compact environments and modifications done on base engine components such as engine blocks, cylinder heads and baseplates.The components integration also required knowledge of engine compartment and transmission elements. Amongst the suppliers or partners I’ve worked with designing and modifying components are Daimler, Bosch, Faurecia, Borg-Warner, Cikautcho, Dytech, Nobel, Hutchinson, ARaymond and Valeo.Other projects involved modifications on exhaust manifolds, exhaust gas recirculation systems and car body components.Storing 2D/3D models in VPM and NewPDM database portals for digital mock-up purposes;Tolerance stack-ups for assemblies’ conformity;ISO dimensioning for supplier drawings;Analysis and Simulation on the 3D models (Static Analysis, Frequency Analysis, Free Frequency Analysis) in Catia V5;Most structural analyzes were run on newly made sheet metal brackets;Other frequent tasks involved coolant piping and electrical harness design and integration.       Ensuring the technical conformity of powertrain sensors, the overseeing of supplier product validations and internal Renault application tests.This field is called “powertrain control technology” and the product range for this position are Oxygen sensors, Gasoline particulate filter temperature sensors, EGR temperature sensors, Gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor, Turbocharger pressure sensors, MAP sensors, Knock sensors, camshaft and crank rotation sensors (TDC), Air Flow meters;The role of the Core Competency is to master and apply the cumulated knowledge found in the Renault technical policy and if necessary, amend it in case new technologies and technical solutions arise.I am the expert/specialist that’s consulted for all technical opinions needed to pass project milestones, am responsible for constructing the technical specification and requirements sent to suppliers for consultation, impose and apply the technical rules check-lists, read and approve/reject the test reports from suppliers.I am called upon for each customer complaint, quality issue and potential recall and undergo an expertise to find an propose technical amendment solutions.As the main source of technical knowledge in my respective filed, it is my responsibility to contribute to finding new technical definitions to suite the ever-growing constraints and requirements of the European emissions regulators that quickly turn the current ones obsolete. I also have the task of passing on my engineering experience to newer employees through courses, trainings and their direct appeal to me with advice and guidance at the office. Among the fruits of this position are the first Mother project developed in Romania, meaning a high level of technological novelty for the company, the first Euro 6 Dfull engine exhaust on the road, the first gasoline particulate filter developed in Romania along with a Direct Insulation heatshield necessary for meeting the Euro 6 Dfull WLTP emissions requirements.       In this role, I am the pinnacle of competence and technical knowledge in the field of sensors within the company.In addition to air, gas, rotation and acceleration sensors from my previous position, coolant, lubrication and fuel sensors are now added to the portfolio, as well as on Diesel engines.As a global leader, I am in charge of following up and supporting the activity of my delegated counterparts in the other Renault Group sites (Horse Spain, Horse Brazil, Horse Turkey, Korea, etc.)Basically, I switched from being one of the local technical leaders (in my case, Romania) to replacing my counterparts from France as being the supervisor of all the local technical leaders from each country in the group.As such, I have a global view of the development and implementation of sensors within all the company's powertrains and can apply the accumulated experience from one place to another.I also have to ensure the synergy between the different sites and prepare or update the standards and validation procedures for application in the following projects.I am the first contact person for technical support in case of incidents and customer complaints, I am the interface with the suppliers of parts, I do the technical quotation of the suppliers participating in auctions for supplying new parts and decide the validation plan for approval.I am still responsible for the technical definition from start to finish for all sensors on Renault Group engines.In a dynamic and constantly changing environment, I have the responsibility to integrate and train the new employees on the job and provide the training of the counterparts from the other member countries.
