  Project by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) working in Pakistan(Punjab&Sindh) with the collaboration of University of Melbourne, Australia & UVAS, Lahore.Objectives of Dairy-Beef Project:◦ To improve the profitability of smallholder farming households in Punjab & Sindh provinces through onfarm efficiency gains , whole family extension approach (WFEA) and developments of dairy & beef marketopportunities through extension and research approach.Major responsibilities:◦ To plan the field visits for follow up with smallholders & farm advisors.◦ To conduct the field visits with smallholders, NGOs, stakeholders & other various officials.◦ To participate in the team work for conducting workshops for farm advisors, stakeholders & smallholders.◦ To manage the Calf Research Trial (Shed management, feeding management and collecting the data).◦ To maintain the office work , including report writing, proposal writing and writing & translation of extensionmodules.Key Learnings:◦ Worked on extension services with smallholder farmers, commercial dairy farmers & stakeholders associated withdairy & beef industry.◦ Interacted with different dairy and beef farm advisors from different NGOs & learnt from their skills & experiences.◦ Worked on Research Case in hand: -Worked on Calf Research Trial funded by Dairy-Beef Project toDepartment of Livestock Management, Sindh Agriculture University.-My learnings throughout the research: Farmmanagement skills, Data collection through an innovative method called "Commerce Data Application" &formulating the data into MS Excel.◦ Organized & attended Training Workshops on different titles such as Value Chain Framework,Science into Practice and Farm Advisory Workshops for dairy developments & beef marketing opportunities.◦ Enhanced capacity building such as Team Work Skills, Communication Skills, Writing Skills, Problem Solving Skills & Management Skills Show less

  Benzari Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP) is an initiate by Livestock and Fisheries Department,Government of Sindh to generate the employment opportunities by empowering the youth through skills related to Livestock,and to empower the rural smallholder farmers and women associated with Livestock Farming through short courses of Livestock Farming and extension services in urban and rural areas of Sindh.Major responsibilities:-To conduct the survey through different channels such as stakeholders, NGOs, village based personnel and socialmedia contacts in order to conduct the trainings in gaped areas.-To identity the unskilled youth, rural smallholders and youth associated with Livestock Farming for providing them arelief via multiple short courses and extension services pertaining to Livestock and Agricultural Farming.-To train those engaged people, youth and smallholders via designed courses based on survey.-To identity the result, impacts and conclusion.-To make the reports of concluded trainings.-To direct the trained youth for implementing and excelling those gained skills in the field.Key achievements:◦ Trained people or youth through extension services and short courses , such as Livestock Vaccinator, LivestockFarm Manager and Community Livestock Health Worker (CLHW), who are utilizing their skills and experiences in field.◦ Trained many rural smallholders for unconventional and the sustainable Livestock Farm Management, who are nowobserving constructive outcome.◦ Trained unemployed youth aged between 18-35 by granting them skills of Livestock Farming to seek the employmentopportunities in the field of livestock.
