Working on the NERC funded project called “The Fate and Management of Emerging Contaminants (FAME)”. I am one of two named researchers (i.e. was part of the grant application team) in this project. This project is led by Prof Fayyaz Memon and won an India-UK Water Quality Award. The three-year FAME project is designed to investigate emerging contaminants in the major Indian rivers and wastewater treatment works, as well as creating novel and affordable treatment solutions for urban and rural India. I am leading a work package which aims at developing a user-friendly decision support tool for selection and optimisation of wastewater and sludge treatment systems with the main focus on removal and control of emerging pollutants. More about the project: http://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=NE%2FR003548%2F1 Show less In this position, I work with Professor David Butler and his team on his EPSRC Established Career Fellowship “Safe and SuRe: Towards a New Paradigm for Urban Water Management”. The project aims to develop new thinking, frameworks, methodologies and models to respond to emerging challenges in the water sector such as climate change and urbanisation. My main focus is on system resilience and how it may be built both in general terms and for specific threats. I will also focus on exploring and formulating the relationship between resilience and sustainability. Show less
