  Began my working career while still at university. Under supervision, I was responsible for subcontract tendering and letting, job documentation maintenance, assessment of invoices and minute taking at coordination meetings. Served on commercial jobs ranging from 1 to 15 million dollars.

  Freshly out of university and cadetship, I was thrown at the deep end. Responsible for construction and safety on a 10 unit terrace housing project.

  Complete ownership and responsibility for projects, from concept to handover. ICA was a land developer as well as a construction company; hence early participation from project managers at the concept stage was common. I worked on large scale industrial developments, ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 square metre building footprints.

  After the passing of one of the directors of PLD, I took on the role of general manager. This was a formwork company with 70 personnel on board. My time there was mostly spent on estimating, tendering, personnel management and liaising with authorities and unions.

  I contracted as a site manager on a 14 storey residential development in Pyrmont followed by a 5,000 square metre marble factory/warehouse in Alexandria.

  At CIC I was responsible for design coordination (DD&C), tendering, contracting and programming processes; liaison with clients and authorities; carrying out all decision making and reporting autonomously; and the financial responsibility of each project.CIC worked largely for the NSW State Government. Projects included hospitals, schools, courthouses and other institutional buildings. All these contracts were conducted under the GC21 instrument.As “Best Practice” contractors, CIC was certified under the NSW Governments Management Systems Edition 4, as well as being independently accredited for ISO 9001.   In business while on Long Service Leave. During this time, I acted as client side project manager on a logistics facility located in Melbourne for CDM Logistics. I also consulted to subcontracting companies requiring assistance with compliance to WHS and QA systems.

  The design, construction, delivery and commissioning of transportable switchrooms for remote site clients has added a new dimension to my skill set.However, my role as a project manager remains the same. The focus within this segment of the industry emphasises customer satisfaction as a key performance index.Management for Parratech is in compliance and accredited for ISO9001, ISO14001 and AS4801.
