I completed a one year internship at University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the Office of Disability Services. I reviewed medical documentation to determine if students who were seeking services were eligible. I also saw students as they registered with our office and determined what accommodations they were eligible for. I participated in Resource Fairs, freshman orientations, and our Student Advisory Board (SAB) where we conducedt presentations within classrooms to educate others about disabilities and the services our office provides. I also worked closely with veterans who had returned home from a tour of duty if they were approved for our services. Show less

      Feb 2015 - Jun 2017

As a school based therapist I work within the schools in Iredell and Mecklenburg county. Within Iredell county I work within a self-contained classroom for elementary students who have mental health/behavioral challenges. In this setting one of my responsibilities is to hold group sessions where the clients work on social skills, team building, empathy, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. Also during the week I hold individual sessions where each client is able to work on set goals that have been identified based off their Comprehensive Clinical Assessment. Within the Mecklenburg County school I have been assigned I work with students one on one to help enhance their mental health stability. Students work on set goals that have been identified based off of their Comprehensive Clinical Assessment. Students who have been identified by school staff as needing assistance are referred to me for services. Instead of having the clients come to my office outside of school, I bring my services to the students while in school. The ability to be able to serve students within the school has allowed the students to have the mental health access that otherwise they may not have due to transportation and parent work schedules. I just began my year long training in TFCBT taught by Duke staff. Show less
