Director of Business Engagement and Partnership

Polly joined the University of Gloucestershire as Director of Business Engagement and Partnership, leading the university’s development of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, other work based learning programmes, and wider engagement with the world of Business. Polly is passionate about higher education and its ability to transform lives, believing that vocational education should be useful, applied and focused on developing excellent practitioners. Her work led her to develop exceptional and ground breaking programmes, which valued and developed student work-based learning experiences. Academically Polly’s discipline is Marketing, with a CIM Diploma, MSc and PhD in the subject. Prior to her academic career, Polly worked for 10 years in sales and marketing in the Electronics industry. Having worked and studied in this area for many years, she would also claim to be a marketer at heart, putting a priority on quality customer experiences and a consideration of what students and employers value. Polly is a strong advocate of experiential learning and widening participation and has led many initiatives to welcome students into HE and help them get the most from their studies, including the development of the Degree Apprenticeship scheme with the CMI. Research interests include aspects of experiential learning and consumer-brand relationships. Polly has considerable experience of managing change successfully and supporting colleagues in recognising and overcoming difficulties. Show less
