      The TYE Vancouver Student Committee is responsible for integrating new students to the TYE program.The TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is a Talent, Ideas & Enterprise (TiE) program to inspire, challenge and empower the top students to become the next generation of business and community leaders. The aim of the TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Program is to empower our youth to become the next generation of entrepreneurs. TYE is a unique program that helps high school students learn about the challenges and rewards of becoming an entrepreneurs.The program is held in 25 cities around the world and is global in design. Seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors coach high school students (grades 11-12) based on a business-focused curriculum. The program comes to a close with global Business Plan Competition for the youth. The TYE program nurtures the creativity, self-confidence, leadership and overall development of the students. Show less

      Research Assistant

      For this project I looked at different strains of C. elegans that had certain mutations. I ran chemotaxis experiments on them using the odors diacetyl and octonol, which allowed me to determine if the rescue strain was successful, or not. This helped us gain insight to the cellular mechanisms responsible for olfactory deficits in Alzheimer’s patients.

      Banfield Pavilion is one of the residential care facilities that is a part of Vancouver Coastal Health. It is specifically designed to care for adults with complex, long term care needs as many of them have health issues affecting their mobility and cognition. As a physiotherapy volunteer, I guide the residents in activities meant to maintain and strengthen their physical and cognitive abilities. As a physiotherapy volunteer I lead various exercise classes for the residents of Banfield Pavilion that helps them maintain and strengthen their physical and cognitive abilities. I also assisted the residents in maintaining or improving normal muscle tone and strength, range of motion, balance, good sitting posture, circulation and gastro-intestinal motility. Show less

      - Authored 23-page manuscript analyzing the impact of 20+ socioeconomic variables and 10 risk factors on hypertension development in Hurricane Katrina survivors and how to prevent hypertension using Stata and R.- Raised awareness on preventing hypertension in a disaster struck population to 300+ attendees at the 10th Annual New York City Epidemiology Forum; data findings presented in a poster presentation.- Utilized QGIS & ArcGIS Online for geospatial analysis of 150+ Hurricane Ian survivors overlaid with storm surge data.- Completed and revised Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Grant applications for new research studies, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and securing approval from NYU's IRB. Show less For this project we collected soil samples from across Queens and The Bronx and analyzed their heavy metals concentrations using an XRF. We ran statistical analysis using R, SQL, Excel, REDCap, and Tableau and are looking at the impact of geographical locations with varying heavy metal concentration and their effect on children's health and education.My duties included:- Managed day-to-day activities through task delegation and biweekly check-ins ensuring timely delivery of 10 project outputs.- Oversaw collection & analysis of 750+ soil samples in the Bronx and Queens, finding the distribution of lead concentrations.- Led quality assurance/checks of 750 data points using R for organization, cleaning, and interpretation.- Collaborated on a 5000-word manuscript draft containing project findings and policy recommendations to lessen the burden of lead contamination in children in the Bronx and Queens.
