  My first two years in DCPS were spent as a social studies teacher and department chair at Columbia Heights Educational Campus. I taught high school social studies. I was named First Year Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year. During the summer of 2009, I served as a Teacher Central to Leadership Fellow in DC Public Schools' Central Office. As a fellow, I worked on the Teaching and Learning Framework that was rolled out as part of the IMPACT evaluation system.From 2009 to 2011, I was a Team Leader and social studies teacher at Alice Deal Middle School.   I am a former middle and high school social studies teacher who loves working with new teachers! In my first two years at Relay GSE I taught general pedagogy to first-year graduate students and teachers, observed in their classrooms, and designed online and in-person curricula in general pedagogy and K-12 social studies K-12. As Director or Core Curriculum Design, I managed the Core (general pedagogy) Design Team, the development of blended and personalized learning programs and early childhood programs, and taught elective courses. I love the challenge of developing curricula to help teachers hone and improve their practice. I also love the challenge of building engaging blended learning experiences for busy teachers. The mix of working on curriculum and with teachers, in person, keeps me energized and excited about teaching! Show less
