  A group of IIT-educated professionals established People's Science Institute (PSI) in 1988 as a non-profit research and development organization. Its stated mission is, “To help eradicate poverty through the empowerment of the poor and the productive, sustainable and equitable use of available human and natural resources.” Its technical and managerial support to communities and organizations that work with them; implements development programmes and undertakes public interest research.PSI's activities are grouped under five units: Natural Resource Management, Environmental Quality Monitoring, Disaster Mitigation and Response, Innovative Projects, River Conservation.Prime Responsibilities were:1. Impact assessment of Ghuttu Hydroelectric Power station Assessing the qualitative and quantitative impacts of the villagers of Deulang, Bhatgaon,Niswali Bhat, Chakkar, Gavana Talla by using sampling techniques, survey questionnaire,recording data and analysis of the same.2. An exploratory study of village Thati - Bhuda Kedar (District: Tehri Gharwal, Uttarakhand)Understand the routine functioning of village polity and local economy with focus on history, culture, economy and livelihoods,natural resources, infrastucture, village level institutions with trends such as Migration.The tools used were Survey, Focus Group Discussions, Interviews, Unobtrusive Observation 3. Theme Paper Research on "Scope of entrepreneurship in rural tourism and it’s socio - economic impacts on rural life" with focus on asset evaluation, developing cooperative mechanism, sustainable business development plan and impact evaluation.   Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) is a church based organization. Development & Relief Department is the social wing of Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) working with partners NGOs in capacity building, fund raising and mainstreaming development in North Eastern states of India.RNBA is working with 13 partners NGOs in thematic issues like sustainable natural resources management and livelihood, Food Security, Women Empowerment, Engagement with Youth, Renewable Energy and education.Key responsibilities of Atash were:- Market Based Livelihood Augmentation and Capacity Building through Farmer Producer Company (FPC) in Tamenlong,Manipur- Derive income and employment benefits for the people within a composite livelihood approach with an aim of resolving inter-tribe conflict. A Business Development plan with a focus both on economic and social aspects of the community.- Design market- driven project with community-based industrial solutions that enable them to participate in and maximize economic benefits using Market Research Analysis techniques. Study Value Chain for commodities with focus on Export Markets.- Establish an independent and sustainable professional organization by acting as head of organization to develop agri- produce sectors in Tamenglong over the longer-term.   Until 2016, Africa Agro was into imports of agricultural commodities. It was one of the prime importers in Benin with a well-established distribution network clocking a turnover of USD 35+ million in FY 2015. Atash was tasked with an assignment to conduct a primary study of Benin’s agriculture & cooperative institutions to propose commodities to assess export feasibility. He established the channel, structure & costs and carried out a detailed risk analysis for investments in proposed commodities. He also studied the accelerators & deterrents for international trade in a developing West-African economy. He was also responsible for assessing and proposing supply of prospective Agro – commodities as part of increasing income of the concerned rural population. Show less
