  Curricular practice - Development of a proposal on public communication of science

  Based on observations of the museum's program, an optional, ludic-participative visit through the Room of Vertebrates called "Discovering the Vertebrates" was developed and implemented. Similar to a treasure hunt, the participants were directed through clues to different activities spread through the room that appealed to their observation, reasoning and previous knowledge referred to the indigenous animal specimens in the exhibition. This methodology was conceived thinking of families with children from six to ten years of age; its intention was to engage them to think about how scientific knowledge is created and to achieve not only an understanding of the information, but to encourage their curiosity and participation in topics related to the natural sciences.
