Through this program I spent part of my school day working and volunteering for local companies that were suited to my interests. I volunteered 10 hours a week at Emertius, a nursing home, leading numerous activities such as crafts, painting nails and bingo.   In April of 2013 I started making bow ties, it began as just a hobby in which I gifted to friends and family. But soon the word got out, and I started making more and eventually selling them. In September of 2013 it developed into more than i ever imagines, a company. Though we are still branding ourselves and always changing it has transformed into a small business all of its own. We have started selling retail, been in multiple weddings and occasionally we show up at local festivals and shows. This company has been a challenge and a new beginning for me for it has taught me money management, time efficiency and a new sense of work ethics.   With my recent promotion with O'Brien Productions that just recently turned 30 years in business. I have taken on the role of marketing and social media manager. With this position I will plan social posts for Facebook, Twitter, Linkdin, and Instagram. I have helped design mail-outs, posters, large signs and much more for this company. It has been fun exploring the different designs and marketing materials that could be beneficial for this company. I have worked with graphics, photos and word usage. In hopes to explore and grow more through this opportunity. Show less With the promotion from Event Staff to Event Supervisor I have attained a greater amount of responsibilities. As Event Supervisor my role is to make sure that all employees are in their position and know how to run their individual stations. I meet with the client and ensure that they are satisfied and everything is going smoothly. As well as in the end I make sure that everyone tears down their stations, clean up their area, load the trucks and then make sure everyone gets their payment. This position has opened up many doors for me and allowed me to expand my network and learn the best way to build a relationship with clients so that they will last forever. Show less

During my time here I have learned the true value of customer service, working in close proximity with a variety of people, organization, money management and even the power of community. This restaurant holds a very special place in my heart and has proved a critical part of my college experience.   For the past several years I have been challenging and developing myself as an artist. I am completely intrigued by new processes as well as things unknown to me. I focus a majority of my work on the small details to make a bigger picture. I have studied acrylic and oil painting, print making specifically wood block printing and photography, with a deep focus in 35mm film. As of recent I have been studying the art of Graphic design and as I start developing a portfolio I hope to grow deeper and relay those skills to small companies. I am continually looking for new outlooks and love making art that makes people happy and think outside the box. I have recently challenged myself to make more everyday/wearable works and have ventured into printing my own shirts and making lapel pins. Which has been a great adventure I have realized is very similar to my tie company Madison Ties. As for now I am continuing to work during my free time. I am currently taking commissions of all kinds in hopes that one day this will be my full time job. Show less
