This research has been nominated for the Dean’s award for outstanding higher degree by research theses. This role combined field, laboratory and numerical investigations into inclined dense outfalls – synonymous with brine reject streams from seawater reverse osmosis desalination recovery processes. In particular, this research examined the trajectory, dilution and mixing processes in response to dynamic receiving conditions including wave and current mechanisms. Over the course of this role, I gained invaluable experience in computational fluid dynamics, instrumentation, data management and analytics, and field deployments. Show less
