  I research on modelling procedures applied to the Aluminium Smelting Process, specially inthe bath chemistry and its variables. I am part of the MCA Group (Modelling and Control of the Aluminium Smelting Process), and currently we are working on soft sensors and intelligent computing systems that permit measurement of some process variables and process simulation:Modelling of Voltage and Electric Current, by using databases and artificial neural networks. Our proposal is to simulate resistance control algorithms and help new algorithms development. Optimisation of the current developed systems, which we already designed for aluminum smelting process modelling. We are updating them according to new intelligent computing and machine learning architechture (e.g. swarming intelligence, evolutionary algorithms).Integration of different output variables prediction systems in one environment. We are working on one common environment suitable for comparison of the modelled systems and what should actually happen on the plant. For instance, it is known that thermal balance causes great changes in other variables, thus all system output variables should be integrated in the same application. Show less
