Collaborated with the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health and Peace Corps staff to create program objectives, performance indicators and measurement tools for sexual & reproductive education. Designed and directed a USAID-funded three-day camp for 109 students to improve study skills and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention. Managed all stages of grant funding from application to submission of the final progress report. Co-facilitated a week-long girls’ education camp. Designed curriculum on gender equality and effective communication. Assisted in the evaluation of the project & final performance report.Facilitated community-based trainings resulting in thirteen women-led small enterprises in agriculture and animal husbandry. Co-taught a 6th grade class of 56 students and provided extra study sessions as well as health classes resulting in 46 students passing the primary school exit exams. Provided training to local teachers on creating and maintaining a violence-free school environment and adapting methods to reach at-risk students, contributing to a higher attendance rate and increased passing rates in most classrooms. Collaborated with parent groups to install three hand-washing stations at local schools and educated children on the importance of hand washing and latrine usage. Facilitated a “Men as Partners” conference for 30 men. Promoted local dialogue between selected participants and high school administrators resulting in a gender focused sexual and reproductive health course, reaching 300 secondary students per year.Provided reports the Peace Corps staff on community responses to projects implemented during my service through grant closeout forms, and regular activity reports.
