  Mentored by Chik Brenneman of UC Davis to produce over 30 small-lot wines for Dr. Andy Walker’s Pierce’s Disease and Powdery Mildew-resistant grapevines. Recognized for being the most successful year of the research project, the resulting wines were noted for their varietal typicity and the corresponding vines were subsequently selected for release into the market.Harvested, processed, and meticulously documented the progression of each wine through to bottling.   Winery: Executed all winemaking operations and monitored wine quality. Incorporated new technology and purchased new equipment. Trained and delegated work to cellar employees.Quality Control and Assurance: Set research objectives to revise and refine existing protocols (cleaning and sanitation procedure; nutrient addition protocol; phenolic stabilization).Laboratory: Independently designed, created, and operated the most advanced wine and berry analysis laboratory in Bolgheri. Analyzed commercial wines and aggregated data to best understand the winemaking philosophies of international producers. Created summarized reports of findings to disseminate information throughout the company.Vineyard: Worked alongside I Greppi’s consultant agronomist to manage the vineyards, administer new technologies, and purchase/establish new land.Academic Research: Worked directly with Dr. Ron Runnebaum of UC Davis to construct the international research project on Bordeaux varietals between Bolgheri and Napa. Marketing: Presented wines and communicated the estate’s winegrowing philosophy during interviews, filming (The Wine Show; Pall Mall TV; etc), and tastings. My focus is on providing producers with the scientific knowledge and tools they need for informed decision-making.In my role as Winemaker, I use Bound to convey the phenolics narrative to our consulting clients. I've personally developed all our educational content, ensuring its relevance to real winemaking practice. I also led the creation of our user-friendly website.My responsibilities cover all business operations, including product development, content strategy, customer engagement, and backend management. Through our partnership with WINEXRAY, we also offer phenolics analysis to our consulting clients so they can better understand key stylistic drivers and adapt to our ever-changing climate.
