Research And Teaching Assistant, Centre for Wellbeing Science

I was actively involved in the R&D of two longitudinal projects funded by the Australian Research Council, in partnership with Geelong Grammar School, Maroondah City Council and The Department of Education and Training Victoria. These projects brought together private and public schools in Australia to investigate the impacts of wellbeing programs on young people, both during school and as they transitioned to life after school. As part of this enquiry, the research team additionally launched an innovative, text-based messaging program to support healthy transitions for young people into emerging adulthood. My responsibilities included writing peer-reviewed publications, presenting at academic conferences, liaising with project stakeholders (e.g., schools, youth organisations), recruiting participants, collecting health and wellbeing data, and planning and executing a novel, text-based messaging program designed to support youth wellbeing.I also contributed to other Centre initiatives - travelling with the research team to conduct cross-cultural field work in schools across the UAE, and grading students’ written assignments in the undergraduate subject, Wellbeing, Motivation and Performance.Projects:• 2013-16, Enhancing Adolescent Mental Health Through Positive Education• 2016-19, Effects of Positive Education During the Critical Post-school TransitionPresentations:• 2019, July: Transitions project. Conversation hour conducted at the International Positive Psychology Association's 6th World Congress on Positive Psychology, Melbourne, VIC.• 2016, September: Research questions and findings. Does Positive Education Work? Enablers and Disablers. Symposium conducted at the meeting of South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, Adelaide, SA.• 2016, October: Are they talking? Exploring the intersections between Social and Emotional Learning and Positive Education. Individual workshop presented at the 2016 Positive Education Conference, Perth, WA. Show less
