  BRQ Vantaa Festival focuses on period instruments but with a modern twist. It consists of about 12-15 concerts in every August.The programming idea is present music and musicians earlier unheard in Finland. Instead of overplaying certain hits we challenge our listeners to open up for new ideas: music, musicians, instruments, concepts or cultures. We constantly commission new compositions for period instruments, present new instruments such as the Omniwerk and Knifonium and also present distant music cultures such as music from the Chinese Imperial Court in the 18th century. We love to create different approaches to music, we made a home concert festival with over 25 homes in Helsinki (2010) and Vantaa (2011), we have concerts where the audience can relax on yoga mats and listen or they can enjoy a picnic concert, or encourage amateurs to perform or to welcome talented young musicians.   Sata-Häme Soi is the longest living international accordion festival in Finland. My job was there to organise the traditional Accordion Cruise on the Baltic Sea and the festival in early July. Part of the festival is the Silver and Golden Accordion – a contest for young instrumentalists.

  I am very happy to work at the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, since it is an ensemble I have followed for several years.
