It also proposes an architecture of computer and electronic systems for the residential environment, based on a set of applications and abstractions consistent with the current socioeconomic context and feasible under the available technology in order to direct efforts in the area and promote the development of applications. Additionally, the implementation of a framework – hardware, firmware and software – called Home Sapiens is presented, whose conception, design and development were made in the context of this thesis. The simulator allows the manipulation and visualization of the interactions between electronic appliances and users, promoting analysis of the behavior of both and discovering effective methods of living, between men and machines, in a domestic area.   Activities and Societies: http://www.lusage.org/ The main objective of this project is the creation of a full automatic and user-friendly electronic remote monitoring system to collect vital and lifestyle parameters of Alzheimer's patients in household environments. This system detects real time abnormal events or situations enabling immediate assistance. In addition, it is associated with a home control application to increase comfort, independence and safety for the patient at home.
