    • PDSA

      Jan 2013 - Jan 2014
      Volunteer

Volunteering with the PDSA in January 2013, I worked between 4-5 hours every Saturday, as I was highly dedicated to the cause. My job entailed sorting, bagging and labelling of goods in preparation for sale in the shop. I also spent time serving customers. This has given me valuable experience in working with people and shown me the importance of high quality customer services. I applied these new hospitality skills to my job at the Uttoxeter Racecourse.

    • Uttoxeter Racecourse

      Jun 2014 - Aug 2016
      Waitress (Team Leader)

I began working at Uttoxeter Racecourse part time in year 10 of my studies. I developed a variety of skills working both in teams and as an individual. This developed my confidence greatly as I was able to communicate with a variety of new people in my team including chefs, managers and bar tenders which ensured that customer service standards were always met. It allowed me to understand the importance of customer service and doing everything and anything in my power to ensure they are enjoying themselves. This job has taught me how to listen to customers’ needs and then make decisions quickly and rationally. A year into this job, I had clearly proved my worth as I was promoted to a Team Leader, which increased my responsibilities even more. I found so much joy in this job that it has resulted in my decision to study International Hospitality Management at the University of Surrey. Show less

      Jun 2018 - Mar 2019
F&B Trainee at Amsterdam Marriott Hotel

      - Developed my understanding of how a large company works. Furthermore, my ability to conform to a five-star brand standard.- Developed my ability to work in a large hotel team. My multicultural understanding and appreciation has developed from this diverse team - we are always making the effort to help eachother throughout the entire hotel (As a trainee, I am always working closely with housekeeping, front office, guest relations and kitchen through my work in room service - it has highlighted further the importance of communication and relationship management).- Adapting to a hotel from restaurant work was interesting. I have seen all types of F&B: room service, bar, breakfast buffet, Mclub Lounge (5* VIP) to working in the number one Steak House in Amsterdam: Midtown Grill.- Training specified in red meat and wine for the Midtown Grill.- Tea training.- Complaint handling Training.- Silver service training linked with customer service training.- Cigar and Wine training - my ability and confidence in recommending dishes and wines to customer has improved drastically.- Ability to balance my professionalism and friendliness: making long-term friends who I have served over their entire holiday, I even had the pleasure of reuniting with families who remembered me from their first visit.
