o This research demonstrated that the mechanical strength and cell holding capacity of the cellulose scaffolds can be manipulated by crosslinking with chemicals like glutaraldehyde, chitosan, and dextrose. o For the research project, HeLa cells were cultured and seeded into apple cellulose scaffold obtained after decellularizing the apple hypanthium tissue slices. o Here, proliferation of HeLa cells was examined in all 3 dimensions of the cellulose scaffold. o Mechanical properties: swelling capacity test, solubility test and porosity of the cellulose scaffold were performed.o The crosslinking of scaffolds provided a greater depth to the study and use of cellulose scaffold in tissue engineering.
