    • Michigan State University

      May 2020 - Jun 2022

I am currently participating in undergraduate research in Communicative Science Disorders. Specifically, the Lips, Tongue, and Larynx lab with Dr. Searl. The current project I am working on is a Scoping Literature Review of the extant literature on total laryngectomies. The findings of this literature review will help identify the gaps in research and determine what research needs to be conducted to understand all of the aspects and impacts of total laryngectomies. As a New Student Orientation Leader for MSU, I worked with incoming freshman and transfer students. I scheduled students' courses via video chat, communicated with advisors and professional staff at MSU, ran small group orientation meetings, and provided students with all the necessary tools to be successful in their first year at MSU.

Throughout my internship I have completed several research projects such as: conducting an environmental scan of Social and Emotional Learning resources, creating a needs assessment survey, co-writing youth articles on keeping kids safe, and creating handouts of mindfulness activities for both parents and children. Lastly, I attended several online training seminars throughout my internship in order to work on my professional and personal development skills (communicating through conflict, youth mental health first aid seminar, the purpose of storytelling, talking to children about race, etc).
