  Child Family Health International (CFHI) is the leading nongovernmental organization placing health science students on global health education programs. I worked in various clinics and the hospital in Puerto Escondido – a small costal town in the southern state of Oaxaca. Here, I gained clinical healthcare experience by giving birth control injections to patients and assisting in surgeries. I gained insight as to what public health problems healthcare professionals struggle with most in this region of Mexico and what is being done to combat them. This, all while improving my Spanish speaking skills as communication in the clinics was exclusively done in Spanish. Show less
