Depending on the application, different levels of safety must be considered for the design. For safety-critical applications, the necessity of redundant architectures can lead to UAV designs with higher take-off weights requiring more energy to operate, hence less energy-efficient operations. Also, designing an UAV for a specific application requires to analyze power and energy requirements of the mission profiles and maneuvers. Thus, to address many applications we aim to develop a dynamic performance analysis framework. In addition, we propose to introduce an analysis of the environmental impact of the optimized design at the vehicle and fleet levels to enable assessing the environmental performance of a given application. Thesis-related traineeship. The traineeship focus its purpose on the development of the software, driving a test bench of a recirculating ballscrew. The electric motor, which drives the screw, is provided by Lenze and it is coupled to a same brand specific driver. The bench is equiped with a Compact-RIO, by National Instruments. Main activities:- Study of LabVIEW software environment.- Study of Lenze Engineer software.- Creation of the code that drives and controls the bench, starting from a pre-existing and incomplete one. In particular, the main activity is to create a UI on LabVIEW that controls the Lenze driver of the electric motor. - Data acquisition from the bench.Referents: Prof. Sorli Massimo and Prof. Bojoi RaduAssociate Researcher Supervisor: Dr. Antonio Carlo Bertolino Show less
