      Robotics Program Assistant

This past summer I was one of 2 Robotics Program Assistants for the Engineering Summer Bridge Program. Within this role, I collaborated with another program assistant, consulted the Multicultural Engineering Program(MEP) Director and Penn State's Applied Research Lab to organize and conduct a completely virtual robotics competition. Along with developing this competition, I instructed 30 incoming STEM students on how to create CAD designs and use the engineering design process to manufacture a product. Over the course of six weeks, I mentored and helped enhance these students' academic and professional experiences. Students were exposed to a multitude of metacognitive strategies and professional networking techniques. I accomplished the goal of teaching our students the mindset that they should have in order to be a successful engineering student at The Pennsylvania State University. Show less

This 12 week experience provided me the opportunity to participate in NASA’s L’SPACE Academy! Within this opportunity I was the lead engineer, safety officer, and mechanical engineer of a team of 11. Through this experience we created a CAD model of a lunar rover capable of satisfying a specific set of scientific goals established by the science team. Throughout this experience I was able to see and learn how NASA missions are conducted and the different deliverables NASA also uses for their missions. Gantt charts, preliminarily design reviews, org charts, N^2 diagrams, block diagrams, and so much more are just a few of the things I was able to learn and work on with my team. This was a great experience and to cap it off was a presentation of our concept. Show less
