Investigated mRNA 3’-end processing of the adenovirus major late transcription unit (MLTU) during early and late phases of viral infection. The study provides evidence that the promoter-proximal poly(A) site has positional advantage over a distal poly(A) site and hence, is processed to a greater extent during early infection. This work delineates the temporal regulation of gene expression in adenoviral infection.

    • Duke University

      Sept 2001 - Mar 2002
      Research Associate

Investigated the specificity of function of the E2F family of transcription factors which play an important role in the regulation cell proliferation, and in the development of tumors. The study also initiated work that analyzes the gene profiles characteristic of cancer-related pathways and distinguishes subtleties in tumors.

      Nov 2002 - Apr 2006
      Research Associate

Investigated cellular pathways utilized by simian virus 40 T antigen to cause tumorigenesis. The study involved (1) developing a novel strategy to design mutants of T antigen (2) using the mutants to identify cellular proteins targeted by T antigen. The results of this study will lead to the delineation of cellular pathways that mediate the transformation of normal human cells to cancerous cells.
