I offer a unique art experience to individuals with brain disorders or issues. It has been used successful with individuals with all types of dementia: Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, stroke victims, MCI, Pick's Disease (frontotemporal dementia), Lewy Body Disease, head trauma and with both children and adults with Asperger Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Hyperactivity, autism and Cerebral Palsy. This method stimulates both sides of the brain using everyday pleasurable experiences such as singing, movement, painting and storytelling in a unique combination to create whole brain communication and stimulate a natural process called neuroplasticity. While my goal is to provide every participant an enriching experience, the improvement of some people are dramatic. MnemeTherapy is sponsored by the Art Without Boundaries Association and more information may be found on Youtube and www.artwithoutboundaries.org Show less This is your time to tell me your story. Together we will discuss where you find yourself compared to where you would like to be. Therapy will be a safe place where I gently challenge you to explore self-awareness, strengths, feelings, choices and opportunities. As we progress you may find it helpful to journal, read a recommended book, or engage in some artistic expression like music or art. As you learn more about yourself you may find yourself responding and thinking differently. Your self-acceptance may increase as you become confident of your uniqueness. At some point you may face uncomfortable levels of sadness, guilt, shame, grief, anxiety, anger, frustration or helplessness. I believe that facing emotions in a safe place offers fertile ground for personal growth. Areas of special interest to me.…though my practice is not limited to these…Health and Wellness, Life Transitions, Women’s Issues, Cult/Mind Control Recovery and Intervention, Learning Disabilities, Interpersonal Skills, and Career Development Show less
