    • Blackpool Council

      Dec 2017 - now
      Community Engagement and Partnership Manager

Accountable for the strategic development of community-based communications and projects within Blackpool. Managed two staff members; supported living for people recovering from substance misuse; led the development of the service, including the introduction of GDPR. Projects: #iAm Youth Mental Health Campaign: Jan 2020 - born out of focused work with the Public Health team, highlighting Youth Mental Health as local provision gap. The campaign combined communications via schools alongside existing community links and focused on platforms of existing interest. Focus groups brought young people together and encouraged involvement. Campaign included: Instagram and Facebook posts and competitions with local attractions. Over 30 free youth-focused events across town - a targeted print campaign focused on public transport as the primary method of transportation for young people - obtained fantastic local coverage, including TV and radio. The Covid in our Communities project targeted older digitally excluded residents, traditionally a complex group to engage in Blackpool. Led regular community briefings and tapped into existing services and social groups. Shared messages via non-digital methods such as Whatsapp and garden gate conversations and ran alongside a digital campaign focused on the families of those digitally excluded. The mixture of both print and digital marketing alongside a robust and Covid secure engagement plan built trust and allowed the Community feedback. This method of communication allowed the tailoring of messages and enabled Blackpool to maintain lower levels of Covid-19. Implemented a digital-first approach due to National restrictions - following an initial 'on boarding' to ensure digital literacy, delivery initially focused on relationship building through games. Sent post-workshop notes and weekly emails/letters to update volunteers - each provided over 10 hours of their time to participate, and full retention was achieved. Show less
