      Activities and Societies: None Learned a large variety of engineering related maths such as matrices, calculus and applied these lessons to control system design, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. I gained the working knowledge of energy generation systems, their benefits and a positive outlook on Ontario's energy. Univerisity helped me learn what it takes to be a hard worker in a professional environment, and how to make tough decisions and helped guide me into the field of environmental sciences.

      Returning to the Waste Management sector at the Region of Durham allowed for reinforcement in my knowledge of Waste and provided new opportunities as a summer student. Being allowed to work independently of management with a team of summer students We were able to efficiently complete all tasks expected of us and take on additional projects. My main responsibility was assisting in the roll-out of an Electronic Waste recycling program for willing participants in Oshawa multi-residential buildings and submitting site assessments for each building visited throughout the summer. My responsibilities in this position included preparing and planning events and programs for students and student leaders on campus. Including a workshop that I designed for Durham College's Third Annual Student Leadership Summit. The theme of the summit was |Breaking the Mold" where my workshop covered developing public speaking skills and touched on methods that I find useful when speaking in front of groups of people. As my day to day work consisted of email correspondence with 180 student leaders and managing their volunteer hours. Additionally, my responsibilities involved promoting various campus services to help enrich the Durham College experience for current and future students. I would also provide guidance, way-finding, and advice to students of Durham College during certain events throughout the school year.       As an Environmental Monitor for the Henvey Inlet Wind Energy Project, my tasks involved assisting in the mitigation of environmental impacts on the project site in regards to construction activities, habitat, and wildlife protection. Through the course of the project, I assisted with additional tasks such as peat salvage and dissolved oxygen water monitoring as well as ecological observations for fish and wildlife habitats and wildlife monitoring and reporting. Near the tail end of the project I was on the rehabilitation team that was responsible for monitoring site clean-up including habitat creation, site reclaimation and wetland construction.I had a hand in the hydrogeological side of the project, where I was responsible for inspecting dewatering activities and evaluating compliance of the work permit for the contractor. With my hard work, quick learning, and a great attitude, I was offered the opportunity to be the supervisor for Dewatering as the Dewatering Lead. In this position, I was directly responsible for 2 to 4 individuals during my shifts. This new role required me to delegate day-to-day tasks, communicate environmental issues to the contractor, and maintain open communication with workers and management in Toronto. I stay updated on project developments during time-off and monitor weather conditions and potential hazards for safety stand-downs or determining an area temporarily inaccessible. I also assembled and installed telemetry systems for accurate water level monitoring. I was unfamiliar with this new technology, and I jumped right in and quickly picked up how this new equipment functioned. I then trained all of the environmental monitors on this new procedure and how to use the technology and would assist in troubleshooting on site.Before my supervisor role, I was an elected member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee for the project, where I functioned as the co-chair along with the management representative.
