  Activities and Societies: My confidence in leadership stemmed from my continued engagement as a School Leader, holding the position for most years of my lower school. I took on a figurehead role, as lead of the Viola section of a string orchestra which toured multiple countries. In upper school, I was appointed as a Prefect, and my service for the school community was recognised in me being voted as Deputy Head Boy. I took initiative in founding the school's Debating Society, and raised a team to reach regional finals. Whether it was serving as a Managing Director for a Young Enterprise, or helping secure funding negotiations for the transfer of a charity shop's ownership, King Solomon Academy gave me opportunities I seized upon and realised the potentials of. A community-driven spirit was always instilled within us, to leave a place we were in better than it was found. My term at KSA gave me ambition to reach out to do more than the norm, such as attending a robotics workshop at Imperial College as a 12 year old. The value of education was never understated, and so too was the ideal of being well-rounded and keeping busy. For instance, this allowed me to pursue creative writing with First Story, strengthening my written communication enough to be chosen for a national writers' forum.   Master of Engineering - MEng Chemical Engineering with Biotechnology 2:1 with Honours

  Activities and Societies: I greatly improved my communication and confidence in large public settings, by representing Sheffield Debating in the competitive British university debating circuit across two years. I joined the society's Committee in my 2nd year, as its Competitions Officer - where I managed a 250 person event, supported relations with other universities and yearly budgeting. Engineers Without Borders: I joined the Zipwire Project in designing and implementing a cost-effective hauling system. Chemical Engineering has taught me how to draw from my versatility - in sciences, business, creativity and mathematics - to form sustainable solutions with multidisciplinary teams. In particular, I have developed interests in energy, biotechnology and management. My research fellowship as part of the SURF (Sheffield Undergraduate Research Fellowship) focused on granule formulation for tablets used in medicines, bringing an industrial focus to my learning. As a team lead for a design project, I drew from experiences in making innovations economic in producing facility designs for a bio-ethanol plant in Livorno, Italy. This acquired expertise culminated in my Masters research project, centered on industrial bio-degradation of kerosene-based oil wastes, as a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly response to oil spills. The insights from this research were used as part of a university proposal for bio-remediation of jet fuel for military applications. Show less
