CEO KWEST Kenya Watamu Educational Support Trust

Improving educational opportunities for Kenyan children by providing books, literacy support and library learning centres. We collect Phonic Readers and children’s books from schools in the UK taking them to Watamu, Kenya. Children there have no access to reading books even in school. Our team of local Kenyans give reading and writing assistance at our library every weekend and in school holidays they open everyday. This keeps the children off the streets and maintains learning. Everyday we visit a different school with our Outreach programme taking books and holding a Reading Baraza ( an outside ) whole school literacy event. This is helping to raise literacy levels and give the children an opportunity to progress with their education. Show less
