    • Ahdanco

      Jan 2009 - now
      Dancer

Baines' credits with modern dance company ahdanco include "seeds" commissioned by Not For Sale for their 2012 Global Forum; "Aftermath" a site-specific performance in artist Ernest Jolly's installation "Natural Reaction" at the San Fracisco Arts Commission Gallery (SF, 2011); "ahdanco on the ashby stage" at The Ashby Stage (Berkeley, 2011); "here, look" at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center (Berkeley, 2010) and excerpts presented at The Garage (SF); "some notes on chaos" at Dance Mission Theater (SF, 2009). Our Mission:ahdanco's choreographic goal is to create innovative and kinesthetically satisfying modern dance that is both visually and viscerally stirring, performed with athletic lushness and including captivating detail - all while exploring the human psyche. Our aim is a collaborative effort to bring together different art forms that inspire and further strengthen the presence of dance and arts in the community. Collaborations, commissions, and shared space not only provide opportunities for individual artists but bolster the arts community as a whole – creating an integrated experience that can serve audience members with a new level of artistic awareness. To this end, ahdanco's work has been described by Rita Feliciano as delivering “a well-chosen imaginative vocabulary which produce[s] choreographies with emotional resonance.” (Voice of Dance, March 2008) Show less
