      Block Placement

      During block placement in organization PACS (Poorest Areas Civil Society), Raipur, Chhattisgarh a study was done on the ""Displacement and Rehabilitation issue under Achanakmar Tiger Reserve (ATR). It was done with the help of Prayog non-profit organization (funded by PACS). Proyog is collaborated with the Ekta Parishad. The report prepared based on empirical data collected from the field by discussions and interviews with the various stakeholders from community persons to collector of the district. The study has introduced the concept of forest, wildlife conservation and displacement of the affected communities. Also it touches to the legal framework and addresses the violation of laws in the creation and implementation of ATR and displacement and rehabilitation under this project of tribal communities in schedule areas. It has helped to understand the contradiction between existing policies and benefits and its implementation and realities on field. The study includes interviews, Focus group discussions, PRA of the village, Visit to the field- villages which are displaced and rehabilitated and to those villages which are to be displaced. The study was referred as a tool of primary data for the advocacy. Show less
