      The Browns Valley Irrigation District covers nearly 55,000 acres in the Yuba County foothills and provides irrigation water to residential and agricultural customers alike. BVID's surface water supplies water are delivered from both the 57,000 acre-foot Collins Lake Reservoir, constructed, owned and operated by BVID, as well as the Yuba River just above Daguerre Point Dam.In addition to surface water supplies, BVID also generates hydroelectricity at the Virginia Ranch Dam Powerhouse and is a member of the Lower Yuba River Accord and its conjunctive groundwater management program. BVID also provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities at Collins Lake, which is leased to the Collins Lake Recreation Area.With the oldest pre-1914 water right on the north fork of the Yuba River, BVID also shares some of the hydrolelectric revenue generated with its water rights at the Colgate and Narrows powerhouses in an innovative partnership with the Yuba Water Agency.       The Water Resources and Flood Risk Reduction division manages the ground and surface water supplies throughout most of Yuba County, as well as provides critical support to the many miles of flood risk reduction infrastructure throughout Yuba County. The division is responsible for managing the groundwater basin, including administering the Groundwater Sustainability Plan, to balance our groundwater supplies with surface water while being protective against impacts from over-drafting. The division also works with our local irrigation districts to deliver over 250,000 acre-feet of surface water from the Yuba River and New Bullards Bar each year. It also manages the acclaimed Lower Yuba River Accord and its conjunctive use program.Yuba Water’s Flood Risk Reduction Division also serves as the management function for the Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA), and provides project management support for various levee projects throughout Yuba County, including upgrades to those protecting the urban areas throughout the County.Yuba Water provides administrative and financial support for over $600 million in levee improvement projects, including the Feather and Bear River Setback Levees, Upper Yuba River and Goldfields Levees, levees protecting District 10 and the Marysville Ring Levee. Show less Fulfilled the interim role of Director of Power Systems, which oversees the hydroelectric production and dam operations at Yuba Water Agency while recruiting for a permanent appointment to the position. The Yuba Water Agency impounds nearly one-million acre feet of water behind the New Bullards Bar dam, the fifth tallest dam in the United States.In addition to protecting the people of Yuba County from flooding, and supplying surface water to our local farmers, the facility also produces 350 megawatts of electricity (enough for 300,000 homes) through the Colgate and Narrows powerhouses. The Director of Power Systems oversees all engineering, maintenance and operations functions for four dams, and three powerhouses owned and operated by the Yuba Water Agency. Show less
