  I am responsible as UL's PrE for Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's). The Principal Engineer (PrE) at UL Solutions drives the technical leadership in specific product areas. The responsibilities include developing and maintaining UL Standards for Safety and UL Guide Information, technical support for UL staff, and participation as UL's technical representative in meetings and committees.UL investigates nearly 20,000 product types, maintains over 1400 Safety Standards, and has over 8000 employees worldwide. A relatively small select group of Principal Engineers have the unique opportunity to provide technical leadership in specific product areas. Show less As Scheme Owner I ensure that the UL Notified Bodies under PPE Regulation and Marine Equipment Directive comply with the requirements under the EU legislation and requirements set down by the notifying authorities and accreditors (UKAS, RvA). I manage and develop Notified Body policy and Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and ISO 17065. Through the role I actively participate in industry and technical meetings including Notified Body groups and committees to remain current with state-of-the-art changes and relevant technical and legislative discussions.
